Out of the Frying Pan into the Fire

The New Year brought lots of old stuff like the fact we are still renovating our cottage. We have made progress in that we are mainly living in the house but still have no bathroom so we are still showering in the camper van, which is still prone to being very cold at times ( I hadn't realised that toothpaste solidifies at low temperatures and shampoo goes from clear to cloudy!) No money left so this situation is unlikely to be resolved in the near future.

One thing that is about to change is my job. I applied and got a secondment into IT, which for those of you that know me is pretty amazing as my IT skills are rather limited. One 'friend' even suggested that I would need coaching prior to going into work each day! I have to explain that I am wanted for knowledge in other areas and am seconded in an advisory capacity to work on developing electronic records and will not be required to do any computer programming (which I couldn't do even if told to) So wish me luck, but I fear out of the frying pan into the fire!

So yet again very little going on in the smallholding department - as I said last year, perhaps next year we will have some time but not this year, deja vu!

Winter 2011/2012

Well, I know that it is still far too early to be saying this but so far winter has been kind to us here in Cornwall. It has been very wet but not too cold and our summer flowers are still going strong it is rather odd to see marigold, hydrangeas and fuchsias flowering alongside snowdrops, daffodils and primroses! Has anyone else got any strange flower combinations?
